Who is responsible for your data
Pig & Pickle Catering of Cambridge, Cambridgeshire is the data controller. Adam Skinner handles data questions personally — email info@pigandpicklecatering.co.uk or call 07946 773421.
What we collect
When you use the booking form, we collect:
- Your contact details — name, email address, phone number.
- Your event details — date, venue, postcode, guest numbers, chosen menu and any notes you write.
- Dietary and allergy information, where you give it to us.
We do not collect or process card numbers on this website. Payment is made directly against our official emailed invoices via standard UK bank transfer.
A note on allergy information
Details of allergies and intolerances are health data, which UK GDPR treats as a special category. We process it only because you have chosen to give it to us so that we can cook safely for you (Article 9(2)(a) — explicit consent), we share it only with the chefs working your event, and we do not use it for anything else. If you would rather give it over the phone than type it into a form, that is completely fine.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
| What for | Lawful basis |
|---|---|
| Preparing your quote and answering your enquiry | Steps taken at your request before entering a contract |
| Delivering the catering you have booked | Performance of our contract with you |
| Taking deposits and issuing invoices | Performance of our contract with you |
| Keeping financial records | Legal obligation (HMRC) |
| Cooking safely around allergies | Your explicit consent |
We do not use your details for marketing. There is no mailing list to unsubscribe from, and we will not add you to one.
Where your data actually goes
This website has no customer database. When you submit the form, your enquiry is emailed to our kitchen inbox and a copy is emailed to you. That email is the record. The companies involved are:
- Our email provider — delivers the enquiry and confirmation emails.
- Our email host — stores the resulting messages in our inbox.
- Our website host — serves the site and processes the form submission in transit.
Some of these providers operate outside the UK. Where they do, transfers are covered by the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or an adequacy decision. We do not sell or share your data with anyone else, ever.
Cookies and tracking
This site sets no cookies. There is no Google Analytics, no advertising pixel, no session tracking and no third-party script watching what you do. That is also why you are not being asked to dismiss a cookie banner.
We use Google Fonts to load the two typefaces this site uses. The fonts are served from Google’s servers, which means your IP address is visible to Google when they load.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not become bookings — deleted from the inbox within 12 months.
- Confirmed bookings — kept for 7 years after the event, because HMRC requires us to retain financial records for 6 years plus the current year.
- Allergy information — deleted once your event has passed and the invoice is settled, unless it forms part of the financial record.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask us to:
- give you a copy of what we hold about you;
- correct anything that is wrong;
- delete it, where we are not legally required to keep it (financial records we must keep);
- restrict or object to how we use it;
- withdraw your consent to us holding allergy information, at any time.
Email info@pigandpicklecatering.co.uk and we will deal with it within one month. There is no charge.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this notice
If we change how we handle data, we will update this page and change the date at the top of it.
