Close enough to be there hours before service
Most of our work sits inside an hour of Cambridge: Cambridge and the villages around it, Royston, Saffron Walden, Baldock, Hitchin, Newmarket and the run of barn wedding venues between them. That is the area where we can be on site by mid-morning, cook properly all day and get home the same night.
Beyond that we still travel regularly — Bedford, Colchester, Bury St Edmunds, King’s Lynn — and it is genuinely no different for you, because we are self-sufficient wherever we pitch. What changes is the honesty of the conversation about timings, which is why the drive times below are the real ones.
Outside the 60-mile radius the food and the service are identical; there is simply a fuel contribution quoted on top, and you will be told the figure before you pay anything.

Venue types
The kinds of place we usually end up
Barn and farm wedding venues
Our most common booking. Good access, plenty of room to pitch, and usually a licensed venue that will want our paperwork in advance — which it already has.
Village and community halls
The grill goes outside and the service happens inside. We have catered a great many halls with one working socket and a kettle, and it is never a problem.
Private gardens and paddocks
Garden parties from 25 guests upwards. We need a level 5m by 3m patch and a route the van can reach; everything else travels with us.
Marquees and tipis
Cooking outside the marquee, service inside. We will coordinate directly with your marquee supplier on pitch position and power if it helps.
Festivals and public events
High-volume service with a fast queue, full documentation for the organiser, and a second kitchen where the numbers need it.
Offices and business premises
Corporate lunches, family days and summer parties, delivered to time and invoiced properly against a purchase order.

Do you charge extra outside 60 miles?
Travel within roughly 60 miles of Cambridge is already in the per-head prices. Beyond that we quote a fuel contribution rather than a per-mile rate, and you will be told the figure before you pay a deposit — never afterwards.
How far will you actually go?
We have cooked in Yorkshire and in Devon for clients who asked. Anything beyond about two hours needs an overnight stay for the team and starts to cost more than it is worth to you, so we will say so honestly rather than take the booking and cut corners.
Will you do a site visit before the event?
For weddings and anything over about 250 guests, gladly, and at no charge if you are inside Cambridgeshire. For most other jobs a few photographs of the pitch and the access route are genuinely enough.
Do you know our venue already?
Quite possibly — after 30 years in the area there are not many village halls or barn venues within an hour of Cambridge that Adam has not cooked at. Tell him where it is and he will usually be able to tell you where the van goes and where the power is.
Can you cater somewhere with no facilities at all?
Yes. Fields, woods, paddocks and bare barns are normal for us. Gas, generator, water, refrigeration, lighting and hand-washing all travel with us, so a site with nothing is no harder than a site with a kitchen.
